Pope Francis

Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born in Buenos Aires Dec. 17, 1936. He earned a chemical technician's diploma from his high school and entered the Jesuit novitiate in March 1958. As part of his Jesuit formation, he taught literature and psychology at Jesuit high schools in the mid-1960s, and he was ordained to the priesthood Dec. 13, 1969.

In 1973, he was appointed superior of the Jesuit province of Argentina. In 1992, Pope John Paul II named him an auxiliary bishop of Buenos Aires. He was promoted to coadjutor archbishop in 1997 and became head of the archdiocese in 1998; St. John Paul named him to the College of Cardinals three years later.

On March 13, 2013, he was elected at the age of 76 to succeed Pope Benedict XVI and took the name of Francis.

Mar Raphael Thattil

Mar Raphael Thattil was born to Ouseph and Thresia on 21 April 1956 and was baptized on 30 April 1956 in Thrissur. Lazar (late), Thomas, Baby (late) Francis, Sosannam, Joy and John, are his brothers and sisters. After his primary education at St. Thomas College HS, Thrissur, he joined St. Mary's Minor Seminary, Thope on 04 July 1971. He completed his study of Philosophy and Theology in St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary Kottayam in 1980. He was ordained by Mar Joseph Kundukulam in Thrissur Doloures Basilica.on 21 December 1980. He did his higher studies in Rome and took doctorate in Oriental Canon Law. His thesis was on "Clerical Formation in the Syro Malabar Church: A Historico-Juridical Study".

After his ordination he served as Asst. Vicar, Aranattukara (1981-82), Fr. Prefect & Asst. Procurator, St Mary's Minor Seminary (1982-83), Acting Vicar, Koonammoochy (1983), Acting Vicar, Cherumkuzhy (1983). On returning back from Rome, he served in the Archbishop's house as Vice Chancellor, Chancellor, Adj. Judicial Vicar, Judge and later as Syncellus and Proto-Syncellus. He was the director of DBCLC & Catechism (1992-1995).

On 20 January1998, he was appointed as the project officer of the new Marymatha Major Seminary, after a few months appointed as the first Rector of the Marymatha Seminary (1998-2006). He also worked as president and member of many a committees and commissions.

He was ordained as Bishop on 10 April 2010 and appointed as Auxiliary bishop of Trichur and Titular Bishop of Bruni. In 2014, he was appointed as Apostolic visitor for the Syro-Malabar faithful residing outside the territorium proprium. Pope Francis named him the first Bishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Shamshabad on 10 October 2017 and he was installed on 7 January 2018. On 8 January 2024, the Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Synod elected Mar Raphael Thattil as Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, thus becoming the Father and Head of nearly five million Syro-Malabar faithful around the globe.

Mar Joseph Srampickal

Mar Joseph (Benny Mathew) Srampickal was born on May 30, 1967 in Poovarany, in the Eparchy of Palai. He entered the minor seminary and he studied philosophy at St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Vadavathoor, and theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome, where he obtained a licentiate in biblical theology. He continued his studies at Oxford (England). He knows: Malayalam, English, Italian and German. Ordained a priest on August 12, 2000, he has held the following positions: Professor at the minor seminary and Ephrem Formation Centre of Pala; Director of the Mar Sleeva Nursing College, Cherpumkal; Director of the Evangelization Programme; Secretary of the Bishop; Pastor at Urulikunnam. From 2013, he is Vice Rector of the Pontifical Urbaniana College of the Propaganda Fide, Rome. He was ordained bishop on 9th October 2017.

Rev. Fr. Mgr. Jino Arikkatt (MCBS)

Rev. Mgr. Jino Arikkatt, our Mission Director was born on 7th July, 1982 in Karoor near Chalakudy , His parish was St. Mary's church, Kapoor in Irinjalakuda Diocese . He joined the MCBS congregation - Kottayam Emmaus Province in 1997 after SSLC and did Bachelor Of Arts (BA)(Economics, Political science, Philosophy) in Bangalore University, Bangaluru, Bachelor Of Philosophy(B Ph) in jeevalaya Institute of Philosophy Affiliated to Pontifical Urban University, ROME, Batchelor Of Theology(B Th)in Sanathana Divyakarunya Vidhyadheepam AFFILIATED TO THE PONTIFICAL URBAN UNIVERSITY, ROME, Master of Art(ENGLISH LITERATURE) Mohanlal Sukhadia University, UDAIPUR, Master of Business Administration : Human Resource (MBA HR) JAIPUR NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, JAIPUR. His Priestly Ordination was on 31st December 2008. His first appointment was at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sirohi, Rajasthan as Asst. Parish Priest and Co Administrator of the St. Paul higher secondary school Sirihi.(2009-2010) after that he appointed as Parish Priest at St. George’s Catholic Church at SHEOGANJ, RAJASTHAN, and Principal at St Paul’s Higher Secondary School, SHEOGANJ(2010-2014) also he worked as MISSION COUNCILLOR RAJASTHAN – GUJRAT MCBS MISSION(2012-2014), after

he appointed as Manager at St. Joseph Higher secondary School, Barshi, Maharashtra(2014-2015) then he moved to UK from 2015-2018 he was PRIEST IN CHARGE OF THE SYRO MALABAR FAITHFUL IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF LIVERPOOL then from 2018-2020 he was PARISH PRIEST AT THE OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE SYRO MALABAR CATHOLIC CHURCH, LITHERLAND. LIVERPOOL and also from 2019-2021 he was PRIEST IN CHARGE OF THE SYRO MALABAR FAITHFUL IN THE DIOCESE OF SALFORD DIOCESE(ST EUPHRASIA SMC MISSION, ECCLES, SLAFORD), from 2020-2021 he worked as ENGLISH MARTYR’S SMC MISSION, NEWCASTLE from 2019 he is working as VICAR GENERAL of the Catholic Syro Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain. CHAIRMAN of the THE PROPERTY COMMISSION THE HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMISSION, VG in charge of SOUTHAMPTON REGION BRISTOL – CARDIFF REGION, Coordinator of THE EPARCHIAL PILGRIMAGES, VG in-charge for the commission of BIBLE APOSTOLATE, CHRISTIAN UNITY, FAITH & JUSTICE, MISSION LEAGUE, SAVIO FRIENDS, ALTAR SERVERS, VOCATION PROMOTION. from 2021 September he is our Priest In Charge and Mission Director.
